Hiring a doula

How much does a doula cost in San Antonio?

Typical doula rates around San Antonio, how my $550, $850, and $1,200 birth packages compare, and how payments and cancellations work.

Doula support is an investment in physical comfort, fewer interventions, and emotional well-being. But what does it cost in San Antonio, Texas?

What do doulas cost in San Antonio?

  • Student or newer doulas: $500 to $800, often while building birth experience or finishing certification hours.
  • San Antonio market average: $1,100 to $1,800, standard pricing for certified independent local doulas.
  • Experienced or agency doulas: $1,800 to $3,000 or more, for established agencies or veteran doulas offering specialized or bundled services.
  • Postpartum doulas: $25 to $45 an hour for daytime care, or $200 to $280 for an overnight shift.

How my pricing compares

Personalized birth support should be accessible without sacrificing quality of care. Every package includes continuous labor support and on-call support from 38 weeks.

  • Supported Birth: $550. One prenatal visit, continuous labor support, and one postpartum visit. For families facing financial hardship, single-income households with many dependents, or anyone who couldn’t otherwise afford doula support. Typical market value: $800 to $1,100.
  • Standard Birth Support: $850. Two prenatal visits including birth preferences planning, continuous labor support, and one postpartum visit. The true baseline cost of my services. Typical market value: $1,200 to $1,500.
  • Pay-It-Forward Birth: $1,200. Two prenatal visits, continuous labor support, two postpartum visits, and a childbirth series or extra prenatal or postpartum support. For families who want to help keep lower-cost support available to others. Typical market value: $1,800 to $2,500 or more.

Payment plans and HSA/FSA: payment plans and HSA/FSA card payments are accepted to make care manageable for your budget.

Payment terms, cancellations, and client responsibility

  • Retainers: required when you sign your agreement, to hold your due date window (38 to 42 weeks) on my calendar. Retainers reserve dedicated availability and are non-refundable.
  • Remaining balance: due between 37 and 39 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Canceling with notice: if you cancel before labor with written notice, the retainer is kept and any additional balance you’ve paid is refunded.
  • Staying in touch: because doula care means holding dedicated availability and turning down other families, clear and timely communication is the client’s responsibility. If you’ve paid upfront but don’t contact me when labor begins or when care is needed, money paid beyond the retainer isn’t refunded.
  • Turning fees into postpartum care: if you miss your birth window because we weren’t in touch, I’m happy to apply anything paid beyond the retainer toward daytime in-home postpartum visits we agree on together (not overnight care).

The full terms are on the refund policy page, and your signed agreement is the final word. To see every package side by side, visit packages and pricing.
